International Circle

History

Daisy Pictet and Christiane Steck created the Cercle Genevois-Conjoints de Diplomates in 1999. 60 women from Geneva mobilized to welcome the spouses of diplomats.

Françoise Demole and Pierrette Waldvogel launched the group “Multi.Rencontres” in 2003, aimed at the wives of multinational company executives. In 2007, the group had about a hundred participants from the private international sector.

In 2008, the Cercle Genevois-Conjoints de Diplomates merged with the Multi.Rencontres group and adopted the name “Cercle des Conjoints.” It was intended for the spouses of diplomats and the CEOs of multinational companies.

Florence Notter-Daugny became the president of the Cercle des Conjoints in 2010. New members succeeded the founders to lead the different activity groups.

In 2012, the Cercle des Conjoints changed its name to “Cercle International de la Fondation pour Genève.” Its goal is to facilitate the integration of internationals into Geneva’s life. In 2021, the Circle also opened up to men and offered new activities.

In 2024, Isabelle Dominicé and Beatrice Roetheli-Mariotti became co-presidents.
